A magnetic charger can look like a simple upgrade: swap the puck, keep your routine, and get more power. But a “25W” label does not tell you what your particular phone will receive. Before buying, match three things: the exact phone, the exact wireless charger, and the power adapter feeding it.
The quick answer: consider Qi2 25W if your phone supports the higher rate and you regularly need short top-ups. If your current charger already gets you through the night, a higher number alone is a weak reason to replace it.

What the Qi2 25W label actually means
The Wireless Power Consortium introduced Qi2 25W, based on Qi v2.2.1, in July 2025. It raises the supported power level from the original Qi2’s 15W while retaining magnetic alignment. This is an established charging standard, not a newly announced feature. See the WPC’s explanation of Qi versions.
Treat the number as a capability to check, not a promise about your charging time. A 25W rating does not mean a phone finishes charging proportionally faster than it would at 15W. You still need to establish what the complete setup supports.
Check your exact phone—not just its family name
These manufacturer examples show why the model suffix matters. They are examples, not a complete compatibility list, and the Apple figures describe Apple’s specified MagSafe setup.

Apple specifies supported charger models and a 30W-or-higher adapter providing 15V/2.0A for its higher-power setup. Older MagSafe chargers have different limits. Check Apple’s MagSafe charging guide against your hardware; do not assume every product described as “MagSafe compatible” delivers the same result.
For Pixelsnap at up to 25W, Google recommends a compatible USB-PD adapter rated 35W or higher. Its guidance also distinguishes older Pixel phones from Qi2 models. Read the Pixelsnap compatibility and setup instructions before reusing an existing adapter.

An option for iPhone owners who want to follow Apple’s documented charging setup. Confirm the current charger version rather than buying an older puck with a similar name. Budget for a suitable adapter if you do not already have one.
Before adding either one to your cart
- Write down your full phone model. “Pro” and “Pro XL” are not interchangeable. Use the model shown in your phone’s settings.
- Check the charger version. Match the manufacturer’s model number and certification information to the listing. A magnetic appearance alone is not proof of Qi2 25W support.
- Check the adapter separately. Compare the required USB-PD output with the adapter’s printed specifications. The largest wattage on a multiport adapter is not necessarily available from every port in every configuration.
- Check the case instructions. Look for explicit compatibility with your phone and charger combination rather than relying on a generic “magnetic” description.
- Compare the complete purchase. Include any missing adapter, stand, or suitable case before deciding whether the upgrade is worthwhile.
When keeping your current charger makes more sense
Think about the moment charging actually frustrates you. Is it a nearly empty phone before leaving home, an awkward desk setup, or simply forgetting to plug in? A higher-power wireless charger addresses only part of that decision. For an overnight routine that already works, convenience may matter more than the maximum rating.
